Podcasts

Solo: The Single Person’s Guide to a Remarkable Life by Dr. Peter McGraw (Solo is a podcast for single people, exploring how being unattached allows for adventure, and features interviews with unmarried people and experts)

She Pivots by Emily Tisch Sussman (a podcast about women, their stories, and how their pivot became their success). The interviewees in this podcast are mostly at mid-life, though some are not. However, since changing gears and making major life pivots often go hand in hand with mid-life I thought our community might be interested and inspired by these stories.

40+ Fitness Podcast by Alan Misner (runs a coaching and personal training business out of Panama and is an American ex-pat). I hired him to be my personal trainer online during the pandemic. Topics are on better health and fitness in your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. Comes out weekly, lots of really great info meant to educate and encourage, for both men and women. Listen to it when you get out to walk.

Thrive Solo by Lucy Meggeson (a podcast pointing out the awesomeness of a life solo and childfree and all of the magnificant opportunities and freedom that comes your way as a result).

Retire There with Gil and Gene (for the older mid-lifers who are starting to think about early retirement or semi-retirement (working nomads who are remote workers is becoming a “thing” now).

Well Enough AloneA Guide to Thriving Solo (hosted by Jill Stark, it’s a podcast for anyone who has been made to feel incomplete or “less than” because they are living untethered to a romantic partner). Especially the June 30, 2024 episode where she interviews Bella De Paolo, the OG champion for solos in society.

Magnificent Midlife by Rachel Lankester (for the women, she focuses on guests and topics meant to champion, celebrate and empower women in midlife and beyond).

McCall, Davina. “Begin Again” (her interviews aren’t specifically catered to midlife, though many of her guests are at this stage as the podcast highlights reinventions).

YouTube Videos

Solo in Canada – Musings From Mid-Life: by me! I’ve created videos that complement my blog topics, many in a “walk & talk” style for those who prefer watching or listening instead of reading. The content is similar but unique since I speak spontaneously, sharing whatever thoughts come to mind. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/@soloincanada.

Brene Brown – you have got to watch any interviews online or Ted Talks, her Netflix special and there’s a Red Table Talk interview with her and Jada Pinkett Smith & family that’s really good. See the link here http://facebook.com/reel/1413137392209660/
