Hello from Ontario, Canada!
I’m thrilled you’ve found your way here. The blogging and podcast world is buzzing with every topic under the sun, and tucked away in this little corner is me—ready to chat about what it’s really like to live solo and navigate mid-life as a Canadian over fifty. Some say “yay”, some say “not so much”…and I say “It’s what you decide it’s going to be!”
Here’s the truth: life after fifty is an incredible place to be. I don’t think I fully realized just how much your world opens up until I landed here myself. Yet, for some reason, the media keeps painting middle age as something to dread—like it’s all downhill from here.
And honestly, that storyline does us no favours. It dampens our excitement, shrinks our vision, and makes us think the best years are behind us.

Sad, lonely, bereft, and waiting…just waiting…waiting for someone to come along and hand us our life. That sounds pretty awful to me. Are you going to give away your power just like that? No way!
We say how we feel. We determine the quality of our lives. Only us.
With science breakthroughs and more health-conscious choices you might have another 30-50 years ahead of you.
Are you really ready to just trudge along accepting the status quo, or do you dream of more for yourself?
But imagine this: what if mid-life was seen the same way we once looked forward to graduation, starting a family, or launching a career?
What if, instead of trudging into this stage, we raced into it—energized, curious, and ready for everything it has to offer?
That’s what I want for us. Because the truth is, this season of life is brimming with possibility. We can pivot—sometimes in big, sweeping ways, and other times with small but meaningful shifts.
New projects. New friendships. New adventures. Fresh perspectives.
And that’s why I’ve created Solo in Canada. To share stories, ideas, and encouragement with all of us who are carving out a fulfilling, vibrant life in mid-life. We’re not just “getting through” these years—we’re claiming them.
I’ve seen sparks of this movement growing in the UK and the US, and now it’s time for it to bloom right here in Canada. So let’s dive in together.
Changes are coming—and they’re exciting ones.

Oh, and I’m also building a youtube channel to try to help the Solo in Canada community. I’m trying to make related videos to go along with most of my blog posts.
So please, check out youtube today and if you like what you see, please subscribe and click on “like” to help others see my videos.
