When I started this journey four months ago, I had a very specific box I thought I needed to stay in. I wanted to talk about being solo over 50 in Canadaโ€”to validate our existence and prove that we arenโ€™t “unadjusted” or sitting around waiting to be “chosen.”

But a funny thing happened on the way to the keyboard.

I looked at who was reading and watching, and I realized that my “solo” life is actually just… a life. And itโ€™s a life that many of youโ€”partnered or notโ€”seem to resonate with.

The Transition (The “Why”)

Iโ€™ve realized that the challenges of midlife+ in Canadaโ€”finding purpose, reclaiming our time, navigating in a more expensive world, and keeping our brains sharpโ€”don’t stop at the door of a single-person household.

While my lens will always be that of a solo woman in her 60s, Iโ€™ve decided to stop limiting my “musings” to just the logistics of being alone. Because whether we share a home with a partner or a pet, we are all asking the same questions: How do I make this next chapter my best one? How do I stay connected in a world that feels increasingly disconnected?

Whatโ€™s Changing (and What Isnโ€™t)

Youโ€™ll notice the titles of my posts and videos might look a little different. Iโ€™m moving away from “Solo 101” and moving toward “Midlife+ Living.” * The Brand: The name stays! Solo in Canada: Musings From Mid-Life+ still defines my perspective.

  • The Content: Expect more on the things that make life richโ€”like my recent interest in why many have stopped reading books and how we can reclaim our focus.
  • The Community: Whether you are solo by choice, by chance, or not solo at all, you are welcome here. This is a space for the “un-pitied” and the “well-adjusted” who are simply looking for a more intentional life.

I’d Love to Know…

Iโ€™m curiousโ€”when you found my channel or blog, what was the one thing that made you hit “subscribe”? Was it the solo aspect, or was it just a shared feeling about this stage of life?

Letโ€™s chat in the comments. Iโ€™m building this for us, and Iโ€™m so glad youโ€™re here for the evolution.

This is great! I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog and watching your videos. I’m not a solo but so much of what you write about is very relatable and many of your suggestions are really excellent!
